The spooky season has just begun but as we all know, a week into October and it will be Halloween which will fade into December, and soon it will be Christmas before we even realize. Once it’s October it’s “a truth universally acknowledged” that Christmas is coming. With that arises the question “So, what are your plans this Christmas?” “uhm…uh…” Nope! Let me help you with that!
Christmas Holidays are already pretty long and given the pandemic situation this time, we don’t have many choices either. Here are some tips as to selecting family-friendly alternatives “at home” to the usual. Bonus if you find them cheap, easy, and fun. Which you will, we guarantee. And if you don’t, well you are the Grinch.
At Home Ideas to Pursue
Hiking? At home? Yes, you can pursue hiking in your home town. Hiking off to unknown paths in the city itself or someplace away from the city, not crowded, in nature or history, is a great way to get some exercise like Elizabeth Bennet or the glow therefrom. Whatever makes you happy. On a more practical note than being Elizabeth Bennet, you don’t have to be worried about getting tired. You get tired, you snug yourself in the blanket, grab a hot chocolate, and play Christmas carols on the radio, and rest. Falalalala!
Spend time making handmade gifts for your friends and relatives and let the merrymaking begin. Sweaters, Handlooms, Gift Cards are a few options to choose from. It consumes time and takes effort all the while being totally worth it, making it special for you as well as the receiver. Engage in some creativity and skill and get ready to get busy. (Might as well get some elves to help you).
3. Family time
Now I know a lot of you already spent a lot of time with your families due to covid-19 but hear me out. I don’t make the rules and “This will be different.” Spending time and spending quality time enjoying are different things. Playing board games, dumb charades, carol karaoke are just a few options to choose from. Matching outfits like Matching Christmas Pajamas could be one of the activities too that you can do with the whole family. Plus, they’re very comfy. What better than emotional as well as physical comfort?
4. Movie Nights
These too, very obviously, will be at-home movies. Make it special by counting down to Christmas by starting with new ones every night and moving to classics while approaching “C-day”. To get this right you need a screen, movies, lighting, Christmas instrumentals at a low volume, drinks (expert suggestion: hazelnut hot chocolate), popcorn, warm blankets, and loved ones! 1,2, 3…Binge!
5. Family Album
Say cheese y’all cause it’s time to get clicked. Capture funny, angry, and silly moments and compile them all into family memories. There will be a lot of scope for clumsy and weird photos. If you’re not into those, you can do a proper photo-shoot too. A recycle tip: use those matching pajamas to pose.
